I Tried

Hi sweeties 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️.

Well, I attempted filming 2 yoga video sessions, and lost one and the other was cut short. So, there is no yoga this Friday. So sorry!!!

During all this enormous frustration I took deep breaths, grounded myself and said “Om” 3 times and I was fine! NOT!!! Actually, all the tools we gain while on the mat did help some, but I expressed my anger to the Universe in no uncertain terms.

So, I am consulting with some friends about how to remedy the situation and be able to easily produce better quality videos on a consistent timing for you. This may take a while. Meantime, if any of you are savvy with YouTube recording, and have time to give me a little advice, I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Actually, I’d love hearing from you even if you don’t know about YouTube recording. Take care, stay safe, and yoga on!

Love, Blessings and Namasté,

Garden vs Video

Hi sweet yoginis and yogis😘

The Spring rains have been plentiful!!! And as a result, my gardens have needed lots of extra attention. It always amazes me how fast those little weed seedlings pop up and have to be pulled! There was also the excitement of preparing one last bed, and planting cucumbers, beans and basil. I’m experimenting with companion planting all these things—I’ll let you know how it works.

Oh, and the Snow Peas have grown like crazy and we are now harvesting more than we can eat and freezing the rest.

All of this is to say I did not get around to recording a yoga video for you this week. It’s my intention to record one for the next week.

I hope you have been able to keep breathing deeply, stretching on your own, returning to your center and connecting through your heart.

Love, Blessings and Namasté

Come join me in this yoga session filmed outside with the sights and sounds of nature. As you move in spirals, your energy will become more attuned with the vibrant forces of nature all around. You will experience spaciousness in your joints, ease in your movements and a renewed sense of energy and peace.

Friday Morning Yoga – Circles

Hello sweet yogis and yoginis. I am happy to offer another Friday Morning Yoga video, enjoying our time together in non-ordinary reality connecting through our hearts and spirits.

Over the years my yoga sessions have helped me maintain flexibility and strength. However, sometimes I wake up and my back, neck or shoulders just feel so stiff, as if they were rusty! I think to myself, “wouldn’t it be wonderful if I could just squirt some WD-40 in there?”. We all know that’s not possible.

What does help is moving my body in a circular motion. For instance, as the ball of the upper arm bone (humorous) is circled around in the socket, the soft tissues—muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia—are moved in a way that is different from my habitual movements. This brings in a fresh supply of fluids to the tissues, and releases the tightness that accumulates there. The results? More space in the joints, less pain and stiffness, and therefore more ease in every day actions.

Join me in the session below where circles are sprinkled throughout the various asanas. I think you will feel more spacious and fluid in you body, mind and spirit.

Wherever you are, roll out your mat, have a small blanket and perhaps a pillow or two handy, turn off distracting devices, and maybe light a candle. You will create a Sacred Space that can assist in deepening the experience. When you’re all ready, Click Here and lets begin!

Love and Namasté,

Sad News

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Marie Silano passed away last weekend. It was a brain hemorrhage, and she slipped away quickly and at home.

Even if you don’t know her by name, many of you have interacted with her in class. She usually rolled out her mat over near the fireplace, and would come to class with a radiant smile and warm conversations. She had short, gray hair, was very trim, and incredibly flexible!!!

I had the good fortune of visiting with Marie (at a safe distance) outside in her garden a few weeks ago. She was happy, surrounded by her loving family (physically and virtually) and enjoying life despite the quarantine! She generously wrapped up some homemade cheesecake and shared a few plants with me. Marie’s nature was to be generous and giving.

We are so blessed to have people like Marie in our lives! She will be missed.

Breathe 🧘‍♀️✨🧘‍♂️

I soooo appreciate all the feedback on the Friday Morning Yoga video I sent out last week! It was fun to create and to feel connected to you all once again.

It is my intention to send out a session every Friday morning, but I’m sorry to say that somehow this past week got away from me!!! Hopefully next Friday there will be a new session in your inbox.

I do have a suggestion though. Find a comfortable place to sit, with your back well supported, but nice and long. Take a few moments to notice what is going on in your body and mind—no judgements. Begin to breathe, at first deeply, like our three part breathing. Deep, slow breathing stimulates the vagus nerve, which signals the parasympathetic nervous system to clam down. Then just let your body breathe on it’s own rhythm. When your mind wanders, bring your attention back to your breath—no judgement. Maintain this for 3 minutes! Then notice the changes that happened. Tell yourself “Namasté” and enjoy moving on to your next activity!

Take care, and I’ll see you on our mats next week!

Thank you, Bless you, Namasté,

Friday Morning Yoga with Jamie, May 1, 2020

Hi Sweet Yogis:

Here I am! I’ve missed you! I’ve been hibernating, processing all this surreal change by staying safe at home, digging my fingers into the rich soil, creating pretty vignettes with my newfound love of companion planting in the vegetable garden.

Now that I feel I am ready to come out of that cocoon (I do love gardening and quiet time), I wanted to make a YouTube video to share with you. It’s been so long since we were together in person on Friday mornings! My almost daily yoga sessions have helped me stay flexible and grounded, and yet I have missed focusing on building sessions that I thought you would also enjoy and benefit from.

Take a look. Come do this session with me and let me know how you like it. What worked for you and what didn’t? I know this first attempt can be improved on. I’m researching different types of recording equipment and places to record in order to create higher quality videos. Hopefully we can once again have a weekly yoga session together, beyond the boundaries of time and space, connecting through our hearts and spirits!

There is an old Native American saying that, “Once we experience a circle together, it always is.”  So let us join together as one once again.

I look forward to hearing from you, not only regarding the video, but to know how you are doing during this Great Pause. Please email me at jamieleigh9@gmail.com, or call or text 479-521-3123.

Thank you, Bless you and Namasté,

I miss you all and our Friday morning yoga gatherings! This morning I was meditating with a gong and some singing bowls and wanted to share a few minutes (under 3!) with you.

So, sit comfortably, breathe deeply into your belly, rib cage, and collar bones, and exhale slowly and completely. Repeat as you listen to the comforting tones of the round friends.

Love, blessings and Namasté, Jamie

I’m Staying Home

Wow!!! What a wild ride we’re in for! I decided to have a “Personal Home Retreat” (sounds better than self isolation) and not see clients and not teach yoga until this nasty little virus is no longer a health threat. Also, St. Paul’s sent out an announcement yesterday stating that all group activities would be suspended until further notice, so other activities that you enjoy there will no longer be meeting.

So, I will miss you all and of course wonder how you are doing. The term “Social Distancing “ is being used, and I think that conveys the wrong message. Physical distancing is what we need, but socially we need to stay connected to each other more than ever. I encourage you to reach out to as many people as you can by text, email, and even better telephone and face time! It is so important to hear each other’s voices and see each other’s faces—even if you’re in your jammies and your hair’s messy!

And remember, breathe deeply. Often. Three breaths in a row is very calming. And a few simple stretches, forward/backward, side/side, twist/twist will go a long way in keeping your body less tense and stagnant feeling. Go outside and soak up the sunshine when the days are pretty, or inhale the moist air created by cleansing spring rains. Take walks in nature. Think of other ways to pamper yourself and those you are sharing space with.

I’d love to hear from you!

Blessings, Wellness and Namasté,

Yoga Cancelled Friday 13 🐲

No, I’m not superstitious about Friday 13. I actually view it as a very auspicious day!

However, the Parish Hall will be set up for a funeral that day (blessings to them 🙏) and there isn’t enough room for all you wonderful yogis! Enjoy the morning with a few of your favorite poses and hopefully we’ll meet the following week.

Love & Namasté ✨
